In 1965 Venzone was declared a national monument because is the only borgo from XIV century still present in the region and is also an example of a perfect architectural and artistic restoration.
In 1976 the wonderful medieval Borgo of Venzone was in trouble and was severely damaged by an earthquake but thanks to the value and perseverance of the inhabitants even the force of nature was defeated. The debris were immediately cleared from the streets and a plan of reconstruction started to remove the scars of those terrible quakes.
After only 8 years, between 1984 to 1989, thanks to the will of the inhabitants, the town center of Venzone is born again and the Duomo, restored between 1988 to 1995, becomes a symbol of the earthquake and the rebirth.
The city of Venzone hosts every year many festivals and fairs, plays, sporting and cultural events, motorbike rallies, fashion shows, cooking and sporting competitions, cultural and creative activities for adults and children and art exhibitions at “Palazzo Orgnani Martina” and at”Loggia” of the Palazzo Municipale. The pumpkin festival is an unique event for the comic way of interpretation of the ancient stories of Venzone. The festival, born in 1991 almost by chance, is celebrated on the fourth weekend of october every year. Foto Venzone duomo By Nazzarenoagostinelli – Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0
