The ‘winter experience’ from Istanbul to Pontechianale and back was successfully completed by the two Turkish travelersTuğçe Akbayar and Fatih Altunkaynak.
The winter experience of Tuğçe and Fatih, accompanied once again by their Yamaha YBR 125, named Chico and Churro, ended successfully a few days ago with their return to Istanbul after a three-week adventure that brought them from Turkey in the North-West of Italy, to take part in the Agnellotreffen winter rally.
The adventure of the two Turkish travelers, departed from Istanbul on January 13th, has crossed Greece and traveled on snowy mountain roads, to reach the port of Igoumenitsa for the ferry to the port of Brindisi where the experience in Italy has officially kicked off. The tour has explored in depth the territories of the South with a visit to incredible cities such as Gallipoli, Taranto, Martina Franca, Locorotondo, Alberobello, Gioia del Colle and Gravina in Puglia, where Tuğçe and Fatih have also tasted the tasty dishes of the excellent Apulian culinary tradition.
Leaving Puglia, Tuğçe and Fatih left for Campania, with an obligatory stop in the marvelous city of stones, Matera (Basilicata). Arrived in the Amalfi Coast, they reached, driving on the beautiful curves that characterize that stretch of coast, the sunny Maiori, Minori, Amalfi and Salerno. The interesting visit to Southern Italy, the first time for Tuğçe and Fatih, together with a small technical problem – then resolved – to one of the two bikes, took more days than the original travel plan. This made them decide to travel faster to the north, to reach the destination of Pontechianale on January 25th.
The first stop in the North was Milan where, after meeting the Anlas Italia team, they set off for Piedmont, stopping off in some of the most interesting and characteristic cities on the road: Pavia, Alessandria and Asti, rice lands and wine, where they spent moments at the ice for the very cold weather, tested some local dishes and rested to prepare for the snowy roads of the upcoming weekend.
“Finally the day arrived to live this incredible winter meeting, on the road to Pontechianale we visited the cities of Bra and Cuneo, and then reach the Agnellotreffen where we were warmly welcomed by the organization and by motorcyclists already present in the location. having received our welcome kits, we headed to the camp area to choose our place and place the tent, “said Tuğçe and Fatih. “A fantastic event that allowed us to meet so many passionate people, to give some interviews to journalists and to tell our experience”.
The return trip to Turkey began on the following Monday morning, when Tuğçe and Fatih left Pontechianale in the direction of Liguria, where they decided to spend a few days, driving once again on the beautiful and scenic roads of the coast, before reaching the port of Trieste to return home. After a visit to Savona, the two travelers reached and visited the sunny Camogli and Santa Margherita Ligure, where they also tasted the unfailing and characteristic Ligurian focaccia… and more!
“It was an incredible journey for us, we met motorcyclists interested in our projects and we are delighted by the warm welcome and hospitality reserved for us by Italian friends, we have discovered enchanting cities and tested traditional foods and wines. of the bikes have limited the program… but, despite this, we have lived a special experience that will remain in our hearts for a long time”. “Special thanks to the Anlas team, who gave us great support as well as the chance to experience this incredible new adventure riding our bikes!”
Now the time has come for Tuğçe Akbayar and Fatih Altunkaynak to open a new book and start writing the first words of their next adventure!
