Seborga is at the far west of Liguria. A little medieval village, close to Sanremo and Bordighera, with a population of 300.000. Many years ago Seborga proclamed its status of princedom, independent from Italy with a prince, a royal council chamber, corps and coin: nothing on this list was never legitimated by the italian government.
Ignoring the political stuff, Seborga is a must see place! You can reach it passing the toll booth of Bordighera and following a road among villas, gardens, palm trees, mimosa fields, brooms and olive trees. Don’t miss: Palazzo dei Monaci and Zecca Seborghina, the Church of San Martino and the Museum of ancient musical instruments. Foto: di Davide Papalini – Opera propria, CC BY-SA 3.0.
Seborga is an inviting place, well preserved. The air is fresh and healthy because the borgo is near to the big pinewood of Black Mount and Mount Caggio. Seborga’s altitude is 500 meters so it offers to the visitors a beautiful view over the French Riviera. Behind it you can see the snow peaks of the Maritime Alps.
