Today we go from Arrone (not far away from Cascata delle Marmore) to Monteleone di Spoleto, discovering a wonderful intinerary.
The road Provinciale SP17 passes through the ancient borghi of Arrone and Monteleone and a wild nature. The road is narrow and its surface not always perfect so we suggest to ride with caution, especially to admire the view: the peaks, spelt fields and the smells of nature.
Starting from Arrone we suggest a spectacular stop at Cascata delle Marmore (even if they are man-made). Their water is used to produce hydroelectric power. The waterfall is not always full of water: an acoustic signal marks the opening of the dam and, in few minutes, the waterfall becomes the one we wanna see. The access to the park is possible from above (upper belvedere) and from below (lower belvedere) paying a ticket. In the park you can follow different paths and walk between the two belvedere going up or down. On night the waterfall is always illunimated by a modern led system providing a standard ray of light. In the middle of the journey we suggest a stop in Polino, but especially a trip to Colle Bertone, with an elevation of about 1.250 metres. At the top you can visit The trench of Colle Bertone, where the minifiction Rai “L’Ultima trincea” was filmed. Today is a belvedere for the visitors.
